Little children (believers, dear ones), let us not love [merely in theory] with word or with tongue [giving lip service to compassion], but in action and in truth [in practice and in sincerity, because practical acts of love are more than words]. 1 JOHN 3:18 AMP
Love is always as defined by the Word, not by the world. The world has no right definitions; it can only give you an option that is a mere imitation of the real. The world cannot define love because it does not answer to God, who is love. The world will focus on acquisitions and not sharing; the world will focus on getting and hoarding, not giving. The world will place more emphasis on outward impressions; true love focuses on impact.
I cannot give what I do not have. If I have received and responded to the love of Christ, then I can show the same love to others. If I find it difficult to love others, then I need to check my connections again. If I struggle to love others, then maybe I have not fully understood who I am and what I have. Love isn't a theory, or something to talk about. All love is flows from the heart, from a life that has seen and experienced love, and is manifested in physical ways. I cannot claim to love someone from my heart, and the fruits of my life will not show it. If all i have is mouth confession and not life profession, then my claim to loving others is false.
Use the world's goods to bless the lives of the people in the world. Whatever belongs to the world will go with it, but whatever life investment I make with the world's goods is a seed planted in eternity, with benefits that only God can fully explain. So, what would it be for me? Don't forget- what I do is a function of my control centre. Who's in charge? His time of favour is here.
