What You Get!

He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him. Proverbs 2:8 NLT

Every promise of God has conditions; don't believe any lying spirit which seeks to present God as a magician that you can arm- twist into giving you everything you want, even when you don't need or deserve it. This generation wants air conditioned Christianity, but nowhere does God promise such. In the verses before today's extract, we read of such conditions, and chief of them is a desire, love and thirst for the Word of God. Through the Word, we learn of God's ways, his desires, his plans and purposes for us. Through the Word, we learn more about who we are, and where God plans to take us to.

As I learn these, I need to heed and obey. As I know God's mind, I must desire total obedience. That is the way to the reality of today's extract. If I don't walk right, how do I claim his protection? In fact, walking in his path does not insure me from trouble; I get an assurance that he is with me, and he will take glory through my experiences, no matter what they are.

When I am faithful to the One who has called me, it does not mean there won't be dark days or lonely nights, but the assurance as always is this: God is faithful to his Word. If he says he can, oh yes, he can. If he says he will, he definitely will. All I can do is trust his power and timing.His faithfulness isn't based on my being faithful; faithfulness is his nature. My plans may not always line up with his will, but his will is always best for me. His time of favour is here.
