Complete in Him!

I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return]. PHILIPPIANS 1:6 AMP

In some respects, it really does matter how you begin. The argument that it is more important to end well is right in many instances, but when you deal with the eternal, the start is key. I must be careful how I define the 'start'. Long before I was even made, the 'start' and 'end' had been settled.

Too many times, the world's views affect and colour our expectations, and we want to define by ourselves what a 'good start' is. We want the rosy, the convenient and the comfortable. However, what today's extract teaches me is that I must first settle my identity and ownership, then other things will follow. If I am in Him, my life will reflect his work. If I am in him, my life will show off his might and strength.

His work never stops: he chisels, breaks, melts, fashions, cuts, molds, shapen, sharpen and fills me as I live from day to day. At no time am I alone or on my own: I am a 'work in progress'; never totally finished down here until the day the Lord appears. So, I surrender my life to him, and ask him to keep working. My eternal destination will be a reflection of his work in me. All I pass through is a reflection of his 'start' and I will 'end' up exactly as he has planned. His time of favour is here.
