Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done. Psalms 105:1 NLT
My response to God is not dependent on what or how I feel but on my understanding of who God is. There will be times of uncertainty, maybe desperation, maybe hopelessness; but the one thing that remains constant is God's unfailing faithfulness.
This Psalmist here challenges me to give thanks to God and proclaim his greatness. I can be so distracted by my present needs that I ignore God's obvious and constant mercies. I can be so fixed on what I want him to do, that I forget the amazing things he has done and also has in store for me. As I consider God's power, nature and works, I acknowledge he is mighty, he does great things, and he indeed deserves to be praised.
My life is the loudest testament to the power of God. If I keep quiet, how does the world get to know the real God? If my life does not show him, how would anyone know him? If I only talk about him when he does mighty things, how would the world see him in life's daily 'mundane' experiences?
Indeed, God is great and he does marvelous things. His power is beyond words, and his life is endless and timeless. He deserves all the praise and the world must know him through my life. Is that your own confession too? His time of favour is here.
Prayer: Lord, I praise you today. Let my life be a constant testimony to the world of your power and mercy. Amen.
