So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ. Colossians 1:28 NLT
I don't know which Christ has been talked about in the past, but there is one Paul refers to here, who is the cornerstone of our faith, and the One who holds the key to eternity. We have heard the message of love, which is all true, but note that even Paul mentioned the fact that part of the message of Christ is a 'warning'. What's the warning all about? How do you situate gloom and doom in the midst of a message of love?
In all of life's pursuits, you find the good and the bad. That's life. The same applies to true life. There are many opposing camps, each seeking to draw adherents, claiming to be the Truth. But there is one Truth declared by God, and he is Christ, the one Paul talks about here. The purpose of his message is to raise men who know God, who are cleansed from their past sins, and who are vessels that God can use to change the world. They are not perfect, but Christ makes them perfect. They were not clean and pure from the start, but an encounter with Life makes them presentable and usable by God.
Once again, have you met the real One? There is an end to all of life's pursuits, and one day, we will all leave all we have amassed and worked for. The only thing that will speak in eternity will be the One living inside of us. Which one is it? His time of favour is here.
