Therefore He is able also to save forever (completely, perfectly, for eternity) those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede and intervene on their behalf [with God]. HEBREWS 7:25 AMP
Today's extract has some key words for our consideration: God is able to 'save forever'. This tells me that there are some other powers which may save for a while, or protect for a while, and usually at a high price. But here is God, all powerful and mighty, and all he asks me to do is to 'come to him'. He's not asking for money, an arm or a leg, but he wants me to surrender my life to him. That is all he asks for. The gods of this world have no free gift; their ultimate desire is to take a life. God offers his own life, but He is available to those who come in the right way.
Why does Jesus qualify as the one to guarantee life? It is because he gave his own life to secure life for us. He gave his all so we could be all he wants us to be. He does not want his sacrifice to be in vain, so he keeps pleading our case before God, keeps interceding, keeps helping us. That is his lifelong assignment.
However, please note that assignment has a timeframe. He will only keep interceding while I have this present life. Immediately this earthly life is withdrawn, only judgement remains. It will be too late to plead mercy. His love speaks now, asking that I accept what he is offering. One day, his judgment will speak. Whilst I still have time, I will do well to accept his life, so I can truly enjoy eternal life. His time of favour is here.
